About Ice Skating Levi

A guide for a day on the ice

Ice Skating Levi is an independent guide for everyone who wants to skate near Levi in Finnish Lapland. Here you will find what the lit forest trail is like, what to wear for skating in the frost, how beginners get started, what skating costs and where it is free, and the other ways onto the ice around Levi: ice fishing, ice floating and ice karting, the months when the lakes are frozen, and how Levi compares with Rovaniemi and Lake Inari for skating.

The site is available in English and five additional languages. It is written first in English.

How we research

Every number on our pages comes from a source that we link to at the bottom of the page: mostly Levi's official tourism site, Kittilä municipality, Visit Finland, the Finnish Meteorological Institute, the Finnish Environment Institute and the Finnish rescue services, with climate averages we calculated from NOAA's monthly records for the Kittilä Airport station. Information on tours, that is duration, languages, inclusions, height and age limits and starting prices, is taken from the offers on GetYourGuide.

Smooth ice and clear skies cannot be ordered, and every operator sets its own rules on who may skate, drive or float. That is why we tell you plainly what a listing states and what it leaves open.

How we make money

Ice Skating Levi is funded through the GetYourGuide affiliate program. When you book through one of our links, we receive a commission; your price remains the same. There are no advertising banners here, and we do not sell your data.

Who is behind it
